Top of the mornin' to ya!
For me, the main goal on St. Patrick's Day, while attending Elementary School, was to make it through the day without getting pinched. You too? It's a rather crazy tradition to keep, that if you are caught not wearing green another person has the right to pinch you. However, if they pinch you and you are wearing green, you get to pinch them back 10 times.
Curious how this tradition of pinching began, I ran a few searches and got several different answers ranging from warding off Leprechauns to just a child's made-up game. If you know the real history (or have a good guess) of how it all started please enlighten me! Also, for those of you living outside of the U.S., do children pinch on St. Patrick's Day where you live, or is this unique to the U.S.? I'd love to hear about how/if you celebrate St. Patrick's day! :)
This print is designed with words that children may typically associate with St. Patrick's Day...including pinching!
(The prints shown below are 5x7's. The print in the bottom left corner is printed on scrapbook paper.)
Now what would a post about St. Patrick's Day be without music from Celtic Woman? Love, love, love them! Enjoy their contagious energy as you choose your favorite print. Bet you dance in your chair! Bet you're humming the song later. :)

To download: You must first click on the print to open it in a new window in it's highest resolution. Right click on the print and either copy and paste it into a document (to size and then print), or click on save image as to save it to your computer.
FOR PERSONAL USE ONLYTo size the prints: The prints were designed to fit an 8x10 frame, but can be stretched to other sizes if you insert them into a document using a program like Microsoft Word/Publisher or Photo shop. Insert the image, click on it, then drag the sides to the size that you want. (A 5x7 will look slightly stretched vertically, but still looks good.)

ReplyDeleteThanks so much. My kids (1, 4, 6) loved the dancing/singing ladies.

ReplyDeleteYippee! I did use your Valentine's Day one (and posted about it in today's post). I didn't have time to get a white matte, but I just loved yours with the rose petals. ReplyDeleteIn reply to Lisa: I think a birthday design would be fun! In fact it would be so easy to print it for a quick birthday card. I've also had a request for a Grandparent themed design, so I'll have to get busy and see what I can do. Thanks for the suggestion. :)
ReplyDeleteI was really hoping that someone was ready to put up St. Patty's Day decorations and would post some subway art!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for these. I can't wait to change the mantel!

ReplyDeleteLove the St. Patrick's Day subway art. My kiddos will love it. They were sad when we took down the Valentine one.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely ♥ ♥ ♥ your subway art. I've seen other ones on the internet and I think yours are seriously the best out there. And I loved your Valentine's idea with the rose petals inside the frame. Our 35th anniversary is on St Patrick's Day so I am dying to print one out and frame it. Just can't make up my mind which one to use. I like them all.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for taking the time to share your artwork with us. You rock! :o)

ReplyDeleteSOOO cute! We're posting a link to them on our blog www.holidaysnob.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteMine is saying low resolution...I feel like I have tried everything I know how to do and it's still not working. Any ideas or suggestions. I right clicked on the image and clicked save image as. I want this subway art badly its the cutest!! PLEASE HELP!! What am I doing wrong??
ReplyDeleteHi Ashlie, that's so frustrating, did you click on the image to open it into a new window first (for highest resolution) before you saved it? If you've tried this and are still having problems, e-mail me or leave another comment and I'll see if I have any ideas that can help you. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for making these! I have already printed it off and have it hanging with the rest of my St. Patty's Day decor!
ReplyDeleteVery cute Irish fun! I can't wait to print this off and have a little bit of extra good luck in the house. :) Thank you for the freebie!
ReplyDeleteHey Janet, that fixed it. Thanks so much!!! I can't wait to pick it up and get it set out with all my other "GREEN" decor!! YOU ROCK GIRL!!
ReplyDeleteI love these so much. I can't decide which I like best. Thank you! I appreciate it!

ReplyDeleteJen
Thanks! I'm loving your subway art! Just in time for me to replace my Valentines one. BTW, do you have issues when you print them out in 5x7? Maybe I have a funky frame, but I usually have to do some reconfiguring before printing so that the words on the sides are completely showing.
ReplyDeletei'm going to download one of them (haven't yet and can't make up my mind which one) but i LOVE your subway art for each holiday. i downloaded for thanksgiving, christmas and v-day! thanks for all of your hard work!
ReplyDeleteIn reply to nateandkatesmom: You're right, it will take some reconfiguring to change it to a 5x7. When I print the subway art in a 5x7 size, I insert it into Microsoft Publisher/Word and then use the rulers on the top and the bottom of the window to stretch the image to a 5x7. The words in the 5x7 will look slightly stretched vertically compared to an 8x10 (you can see it in the picture above) which can't really be avoided. I check and tweak each word when I design it though and try to find that happy middle between the two sizes. I hope this helps, let me know if you have problems. :)
ReplyDeleteSo, so cute!! Thanks for sharing! I will definitely be printing this!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the printable, I was just looking last night for one and TODAY you posted these beautiful St. Patrick Day Subway prints.
ReplyDeleteThank you again, Deanna
Just printed one! Love it, big thank you to you!!
ReplyDeleteLove these for updating my office each month. THANKS for all your work!
ReplyDeleteSo cute, thanks for your generosity. Thanks for linking up to Beyond The Picket Fence.
ReplyDeleteSo Excited to print this! I'm obsessed with Subway Art! Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteCant wait to print one! thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat am I doing wrong? when I print it out ona 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock it cuts off the top of the word shamrock..
ReplyDeleteIn Reply to Kimber: I'm sorry it's giving you problems. Printing problems take the fun right out of printables. Did you click on the image first to it's full resolution before you copied or saved it? If you do that and then paste it into a document to print it, it should work for you. If it still isn't working, let me know and I'll see if I can help you figure out the problem. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing...I can't wait to print one of these off for my St. Patrick's Day decorations!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your new subway art! I linked to you on my blog's "Fabulous Freebie Friday"!

ReplyDeleteI'm really getting into subway art lately so I googled "St. Patrick's subway art" and your post was the first to come up. (Congrats on that!) I downloaded two of them: "Wild Irish Rose" for home (love how you incorporated pink into St. Patrick's Day!) and "Wearing Green" for my desk at work. Thank you so much for the time you put in to these lovely creations!

ReplyDeleteOh My Oh! I am so totally Irish and am so happy that you did these printables. My only problem is...which one? I love the Pink one!! Thanks again...and I'll be back - and I'm putting you on my favorites. Have you thought about a Birthday one? Maybe one for a girl and one for a boy? Or even a Lady or Man??
ReplyDeleteLove the subway art ... and second someone's idea of having a 'birthday' subway art. Are they all 5x7 size? I have a 16x20 frame that I would love to put in seasonal subway art.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid and you were pinched while wearing green you got to PUNCH the person who pinched you. :)
ReplyDeleteIn reply to Katemonster23: I read your comment and literally laughed out loud! I can just imagine kids all over the playground taking punches at eachother. I think I might take the punch over the pinches though, one hit and your done! :)
ReplyDeleteYour subway art is so awesome!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to pring and hang!! (and go back through your archives!)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I don't normally make a big deal of St. Patty's, but I like these and figure I might as well celebrate part of my heritage. :D

ReplyDeleteAhhh...too bad I've found these too late for this year. But next year I'll be ready! :) Thanks for sharing these!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I am from the States, but am currently living in Ireland. I found it interesting that they do pinch here, too, though apparently they punch (lightly, one would hope!) in some areas. No worries, though...EVERYBODY wears green! You can check out the crowd in some of my St. Patrick's Day parade pics here:

Thanks again!
Heather! :)
I just found this.. and I am totalLY in love. How woudl I print it MUCH larger? (I want to print it as an 18 x 24? I want it be a showcase on my mantle! (I'll be printing it at Staples)
ReplyDeleteLOVE it!
Thanks for your comment, I'm glad you like it! I saved the images at high resolution for commercial print, but I haven't ever printed one larger than an 8x10 to see how the quality would look. I think what you'll need to do is click on the image you want, to open it in it's highest resolution in a new window, save the subway art to your computer as an image, and then take it to Staples and have them bring it up on their screen as an 18 x 24 (if that's possible) to see if the image quality and proportions look okay. (They might even be able to get it directly from my blog, I just don't know.) I hope it works for you, please let me know how it turns out. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...I can finally put something up on my mantle.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing! Love your subway art!
ReplyDeleteI have been printing out your subway art each month (since 1/12) and putting them in a frame on my mantle. Thanks so much...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your time and talents!
