20+ Free Fonts to Love

Do you get excited about cute fonts?  You do?  Well then this post is for you!  (It may sound like a sponsored post, it's not, I'm just sharing a great find.)

The other night I was helping my sister look for a new font for something she was working on and told her she should check out the KG fonts (that I love) over at DaFont.com.

What I didn't realize until then was that the designer, Kimberly Geswein, has shared more than just the KG fonts, there are 189 Fonts by Kimberly Geswein at DaFont.com and they are cute, they are free, and I couldn't wait to tell you all about them!

I'm most excited to try out Janda Apple Cobbler, Janda Silly Monkey (super fun for kids), and KG This is not Goodbye. KG Skinny Latte is the font I used on my Fall stacker blocks.   For more about Kimberly's fonts, including info. on using a font commercially for only $5, visit Kimberly Geswein Fonts.

Kevin and Amanda is another great place to download cute free fonts.  If you aren't exactly sure how to download and install a font on your computer, I highly recommend Kevin and Amanda's tutorial.  It's easy to follow and has detailed instructions and pictures of each step.

I also recommend running a quick scan on each download first to make sure it's safe before you install the font.  I've never had any problems with the fonts at DaFont.com, but you can't be too careful.

Now go check out those fonts, I think you'll love them!

Featuring: Teacher Blocks...Appreciation Gift

These teacher blocks are going on my must make list!  Kierste at Brown Paper Packages has shared all of the details on how to make these amazing blocks--including the font and paint colors (love this red).

Please pin this photo from the original post.

There are 10  blocks that spell fourteen + school related and seasonal words!  I don't think I'll have time to make them in time for Teacher Appreciation Week this week, but I should be able to get a set made by the end of the school year.  I think elementary teachers would love these in the classroom!

Featuring: Asparagus and Tater Toss Recipe

When I was a young girl I loved to pick asparagus.  I grew up in the country where it grew along the fencelines (on the outer edges of the fields) near our home.  Some days my siblings and I picked enough to fill an entire grocery sack, which we took home to our mom to cook for dinner.  It was so good!   I don't know if it would have tasted as delicious to me though if I hadn't picked it myself.

Kristyn just posted this recipe for Asparagus & Tater Toss over at Lil' Luna and I can not wait to try it!  It's going on the menu this week for sure.  If you like asparagus you've got to go check out this recipe--it has bacon!

My thanks to Kristyn for permission to use this photo.  Please pin it from the original post.

Five Fabulous Finds and December Thank You's

December is always such a busy month and I love it, but by the end of the month I'm always ready for the calm days of January.   It's been awhile since I've posted any features, so I have five to share with you today!

#1 Decorative Wall Mirrors at Shanty 2 Chic

I didn't even know that I like mirrors in Dining Rooms until I saw the Decorative Wall Mirrors that Whitney made at Shanty 2 Chic.  They're gorgeous!  If you don't already follow Shanty 2 Chic you're missing out on some really fantastic DIY decor projects.

Amanda put together a feature post with photos of 16 different organized kids closets.  This post has a bunch of good ideas.  In fact, I think I had her post roll through my Google Reader 4 or 5 times, just so I could keep looking it. :)

#3 Growing Your Blog Series at Centsational Girl
Did you read the 'Growing Your Blog' Series that Kate at Centsational Girl organized?  It was fun to read about the experiences of five well-known Bloggers on five different topics of Blogging.

#4 Favorite Recipes of 2011 at The Girl Who Ate Everything

I made Christy's Bloomin' Onion Bread last year, it's on the readers favorites list, and my family really likes it (the ones who were willing to try it anyway).  We like it on french bread too.  I just slice the loaf in half lengthwise and put the toppings on top, so yummy!  Christy put a list together of her favorites of 2011 as well.

#5  Aged Inside Door at Down to Earth Style

I just saw this photo on Pinterest and was so intrigued.  It's an inside door that leads down to the basement.  I'll be looking around this blog some more, Holly has many creative ideas for the home.

December Thank you's

I didn't ever post thank you's to the Bloggers who featured one of my projects in December.  (This will probably be my last month putting this list together.)  As always, the links go directly to the home page of the blog and I know they'd love a visit!

Featuring: Christmas Tree Wall Art

Alison at Oopsey Daisy just made the most adorable wall art!  Have you seen it?

This would be a fun way to use up fabric scraps...and ribbon pieces...and trim remnants...which I just so happen to have plenty of!  You too?  There isn't any glass in the frame so with a little spray paint magic just think of what you could do with a thrift store frame or an old frame you have stashed away.  I can't wait to make one and am thinking it would be a nice gift for my kids to make for their school teachers as well.

Featuring: Pumpkin Bubble Wreath and a Costume Delimma

April R. recently e-mailed me a picture of the burlap bubble wreath that she just finished.  I think her idea to make it as a pumpkin is so very creative and fun and wanted to pass it on to you.  Thanks for sharing your wreath with us April, it's so cute!

This week has been a busy one.   I'm working like crazy to try to get all my painting projects done before it's too cold to open the windows for ventilation.   I mentioned a while back about the table that was really giving me problems, it's finally done but I haven't been able to write a post about it yet.

This week I've been working on adding some board and batten in two rooms in my house (with my husbands help), which seemed simple enough until we decided to replace all of the baseboards in our kitchen/dining room, living room, and hall as well (to match the height of the board and batten baseboard).  Because I painted the board and batten a different color than my trim (it's the same color as my kitchen cabinets that I painted last year), if I want everything to match, I'll need to paint all of the window trim and doors as well---all of this the week before Halloween!  Am I crazy?!  I think I might be, lol!

Two out of four of my kids have their costumes ready to go for Monday.  I'm confident I can buy one of the costumes, but my daughter wants to be this little character for Halloween:

It's Sack Boy from a video game called 'Little Big Planet' one of my kids very favorite games.
Um...can we say complicated?  I'm really not sure how this is going to happen, lol!  How would I make it?   Dye sweaters from Goodwill maybe?  And how would you make that head?   With my house torn apart,  I'm not really in a great position to start on a sewing project, so I asked her what her second choice would be:

A princess Leia costume would be so much easier to whip up for sure (I might even be able to find one to buy), but it's not what she really wants to be.

Are you sewing costumes this Halloween for yourself or for your kids?   Do your kids get to pick whatever they want to dress up as, or do you 'guide' them in their choices?

Featuring: {Bless This Home} Frame w/Beadboard

Andy at Poppies at Play knows how to find a great bargain and continually has one fantastic idea after another, like this one.

She used a yard sale frame, a scrap piece of beadboard from the clearance bin at Home Depot (you won't believe how much she paid for it) and her amazing ability to make something from nothing to create this.

My list of things I want to make just got bigger!

Prepare yourself to be amazed...okay, are you ready?  Can you believe that Heather at DIY Kinda Girl turned this laminate furniture...

into this...

Amazing!!!

If you have any laminate furniture around your home that you're not particularly loving, you might want to go visit Heather and learn more about how she did this.  I know I'm excited to give it a try!

One of the hardest things for me when starting a painting project is deciding which primer and paint to use when there are so many to choose from.  Heather will tell you exactly what you need to buy so there will be no confusion or expensive mistakes.  Click here for the tutorial.

Guest Posting: Pocket Full of Pink

Today I'm guest posting over at Pocket Full of Pink and am happy to have Karen here sharing a fun redo tutorial with you.

Hello!  I am Karen From the Blog Pocket Full of Pink.  I am so excited to be here and show you a few of my favorite projects from my blog Pocket Full of Pink.  I love all things crafty and find it relaxing to find junk and make it into something I love!

I am so excited to be here and show you my blog and the project I have been working on lately!
Here are some are some of my favorite projects that I have made:

Flower Wall Art
I love that it was so easy and quick to make and I used supplies I already had on hand! Click here to see how I made it.

Spring Barnwood sign
Here's a sign I re-purposed from an old sign I got at Salvation Army!
You can see the tutorial here.

I Love you Valentines Frame
I used lots of supplies I had on hand for this cute Valentine frame.  Find the tutorial here.

Today I am going to show you my T-shirt Makeover:

I was at Target the other day and found 2 of the same shirt for $2.50 each.  They were long sleeve and V-neck.  I knew I had to buy them and try a make-over with them!  I have been wanting to try this for months, but haven't had the courage too.

I stumbled across this blog a few weeks ago, and I love her shirt redo tutorials.  She gives awesome directions!  This is where I got the idea for mine. Now remember, this is the first one I have done and I am NOT a seamstress by any means.  Sewing even kinda stresses me out, but I like how it turned out!

I also used another tutorial from another blog for the sleeves.  They were long sleeves, but I changed them to 3/4 sleeve length.  I feel terrible, because I can't remember the name of the blog that I got that tutorial from.  If anyone knows, please tell me so I can give here credit!!

The neckline seemed a little stretched out when I was done, but I was planning on wearing that white shirt underneath anyways (don't like the cleavage look).
I really was happy with the way it turned out.  I have been wearing it everywhere!

It probably took me about 2 hours to make, but for my first time, I don't think that was too bad!

Thanks so much for letting me visit Janet!  I would love you to stop by my blog Pocket Full of Pink anytime!

Thanks for visiting Karen!
